THE ORIGIN
The scientist behind Moissan
In 1893, French chemist Henri Moissan discovered natural silicon carbide in fragments of a meteorite while pioneering research into the creation of diamonds in a laboratory. The rare mineral was later named "moissanite" in his honor. In 1906, his groundbreaking scientific work earned him the Nobel Prize in Chemistry.
Honoring his legacy, H. Moissan was founded in 2023 .
